Once named Talbert, From the 1880's
through the turn of the century, the swampy area became known a s
"Gospel Swamp" by surrounding communities due to the many evangelistic meetings
held in the area. The present name, Fountain Valley, is derived from the
area's abundant natural underground water wells.
